Harry Potter Keys and Curios Journal

Harry Potter Keys and Curios Journal

A personalised, interactive guided journal with more than one magical secret to reveal.

A physical extension of your digital wizarding identity

The Wizarding World Key and Curios journal is a physical product that is deeply connected to the digital ecosystem we created for the Harry Potter membership experience. No two are alike. The internal pages are personalised and print on demand - customised according to a fan’s House, selected Hogwarts Pet, and even their name and birthday.
I commissioned Mina Lima (designers of the graphic props featured in the Harry Potter films) to create four House specific covers.
Markers within the pages trigged new content and experiences within the Harry Potter Fan Club app. The spreads included special touches and content not found elsewhere, including original film props we shot at the archives in Leavesden Studios.
The result is a deeply personal experience that makes a fan feel valued and recognised within the franchise.

Home to magical, share-worthy experiences

Bertie Botts Every Flavour Beans AR experience

Users shook and tipped over a box of Every Flavour Beans, and could either tap the spilt beans or use voice recognition to pick up the beans of their choice. Be careful, I found an earwax flavoured one once.

Follow the Spiders AR experience

Just in time for Halloween on the October spread, interacting with the Enchanted Key marker causes the pages to tear open and a swarm of spiders to spill out over the journal. Edge detection means the spiders appear to really be walking across the object. Users are able to tap to scare them off and disperse the spiders.

Hogwarts in the Snow AR experience

A miniature snow-globe that pops out the journal, users were able to explore a tiny Hogwarts (complete with a little owl that swoops back and fourth from the Owlery), reveal key facts and trigger a fresh dusting of snow.
